We are delighted to announce our 4th annual Hassocks Goes Gold Sunflower Competition. Could you be the lucky winner of the tallest sunflower in 2023??

Last year, our winner Marilyn Cohen grew an absolute giant of a sunflower at 404cm. This year we have two categories: ‘Tallest Sunflower’ and ‘Prettiest Sunflower’.
So, if you manage to grow a beautiful sunflower but it’s only 2 foot high, you are still in with a chance of winning a prize!

The competition is open to all ages and to anyone living in Hassocks. Also eligible are any children who attend a school in Hassocks (whether or not they live in the village). We encourage entrants to plant sunflowers in front gardens, if possible, so that Hassocks residents can enjoy the flowers.

To enter, post your sunflower photo (and sunflower height in centimetres if entering the tallest sunflower category) on the Hassocks Goes Gold Facebook page or email to sunflowers4hassocks@gmail.com.
The closing date is the 24th of August. Winners will be announced on 1st September to mark the beginning of Hassocks Goes Gold month. Good luck!

We are also running a Golden Poster Competition, open to all ages. This year’s theme of golden teddy bears is dedicated to Teddy Lichten, and all money raised from the poster sales will go to help Teddy’s Campaign.
